The Battle for Delor Prime (Star Trek: Armada II)

As some of you guys know, during the latter parts of developing LCARS 47 the Dev Team got pretty caught up playing Star Trek: Armada II when the work permitted. Obviously, I was undefeated every time (even when they all teamed up against me). Anyways, we thought we'd release the map I made. The catch is, it's lodged in a file inside LCARS Prolixus. Happy hunting!

Customizable Personnel Database Complete

The customizable personnel database is now complete. Simply add the text and an image, save in the correct directory and it'll be there when you start LCARS 47. You may have noticed that the layout has changed. It seemed more fitting to redesign it.

All the common fields are editable including the name and rank and there's enough space in the biography section for about two paragraphs. You'll notice that your ship's name and registry are also displayed on screen; I thought it would give an added touch of personalization throughout the database.

The image placeholder (right) should also be replaced by an image of your choice. The dimensions must be 454 pixels by 500 pixels and it must be in a JPEG format without progressive scanning. So, suit up and smile.

There are 10 slots for database entries, but that can be increased at a later date.

Federation Database Scan Animation Complete

The Federation Database animation is finally complete. I spent more time on this as I would have liked to, since each screen will only be displayed for 0.2 seconds (unless you hit the "hold" button). This animation represents the starting point of the user customizable database system.

There will be an update to the StartApp where you can launch the personnel database directory. There you can add your own crew, et cetera.

The database title also states the custom ship name which you can edit in the StartApp.

Relics from the Archive • LCARS Media Player Skin Found

I found some old LCARS files while searching through my old archives. I thought I'd share them with you guys. They were made in 2008 and originally intended to be released with the long-ago-canned LCARS 47 version 2.0. Unfortunately, I think these are the only remaining LCARS files.

Hidden Goodies • Preview Hint

Over the course of the development, LCARS 47 has become known for its hidden secrets - most notably the "assimilation virus" which became favorite among users. Version 6 will proudly follow that tradition. There's a ton of new secrets, hidden surprises and in-jokes that only the most hardened Trekker will get.

Here's a preview of just three of them. First, there's some old library computer files stored in a database somewhere which contain a copy of the software from the USS Excelsior. There's also a few sing-along audio files to find, including a very special audio treat for fans of The Next Generation. And there's also a way to hack into a Romulan Warbird computer; just don't get caught in there...

These are just three examples of what's in store, but I can confidently say that there will be some things in Version 6 that you will seriously love. One thing in particular is sure to be a success.

On a related note, The Borg are set to make a comeback, with an even more deadly nanoprobe toxin you'll need to think fast to escape it - if that's even possible.

Something I thought would give you something to look forward to in Version 6. Happy hunting.
